The BC Mission Boat Society can provide your group or you as an individual with the opportunity to participate in a land based mission team. In some locations the communities welcome groups from the Mission Boat organization to stay on site. These land based ministries do not involve staying on, or a visit by the mission boat. We encourage you to consider a winter mission experience as we operate a year round ministry.

These land teams are a wonderful opportunity for you personally, or for your church, youth group, family or organization to participate in a mission. The accommodations may be rustic, and in some locations your group would be camping.

The land team is immersed into all aspects of the community. While on site your team will be accompanied by a BC Mission Boat staff member. Activities your group would be involved in would normally include providing a Vacation Bible School, teen activities, visitation of shut-ins, fellowship gatherings, Bible Study, music worship, and other ways in which God opens doors for your group to serve.

There are more communities requiring land teams than we have previously served. There are many opportunities for people to come and serve in locations which include:

Kyuquot, Ahousat, Gilford Island, Alert Bay, Oclucje, Ucluelet, Zeballos, Queen's Cove, Gold River, Bella Bella, Klemtu, Kingcome, Yoquot / Friendly Cove, Rivers Inlet.

To read more about these locations, see Locations We Visit.

The BC Mission Boat assists your group by administering the coordination of your group with our community contacts, helping plan activities, assisting with travel arrangements to the site and providing one of our staff members to work with your group.

There is a $250.00 Cdn. administration fee requested from each group to help offset our support costs. Each group is responsible for all of their travel costs, food and accommodation. Our experience and feedback from past groups has indicated that a budget of up to $250.00 CDN Per person is realistic for your costs (plus cost of transportation to Vancouver Island).

To learn more about Land Based Mission Teams, please contact us directly at (250) 248-5300. Please note that each team is assessed and matched with the most appropriate location based on the Society's past experience and knowledge of the respective communities.

The group will complete a Land Team Application and submit it to the B.C. Mission Boat office along with the $250.00 CDN administration fee to register. The individual team members will complete and sign a Personal Consent Form and Medical Questionnaire as attached to the Land Team Application Form. A Land Team Orientation Package may be reviewed for more information.
